California

The KC LLC, a California-registered limited liability company, was formed in mid-2007 to hold Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) preliminary permits for priority of development of new sites.

Based on three applications filed in December 2007, KC LLC was eventually granted preliminary permits in to develop the P-13089 Conway Ranch hydropower project on an irrigation diversion from Virginia Creek to a property in the Mono Lake watershed belonging to Mono County and leased presently for sheep grazing, the P-13090 site (once licensed as the P-7267 Tungstar Project below various Pine Creek Mine Sites in Inyo County and P-14303 at Tinemaha Reservoir owned by Los Angeles Department of Water and Power, also in Inyo County.

In April 2008, the sole proprietorship of KW Sackheim Development obtained two preliminary permits for development of small hydroelectric generating facilities within the boundaries of projects undergoing relicensing in Yuba County. Several sites under the P-13225 preliminary permit are still under consideration and may continue to be pursued under a new P-14493 preliminary permit.

New Hampshire

Efforts in New Hampshire began in 2011 with the submission of 7 FERC "preliminary permit" applications to develop 8 sites. A ninth site was permitted shortly after the KC Hydro LLC of New Hampshire website was last updated. The proposed Milton Three Ponds project has been closely watched and disclosed on the Three Ponds Protective Association website.

Buffalo, NY

A preliminary permit was granted as the P-14423 Scoby Dam project.

Raleigh, NC & Danville, VA

Preliminary permits are pending for the respective P-14521-NC Falls Lake Dam project at a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers' dam on the Neuse River, and P-14526-VA Union Dam project on the Dan River in the City of Danville.
